Long time no talk? I have been super busy with…well life. Between school ending, getting this new apartment that I will be talking about more later, and trying to spend time with my family and my boyfriend, it just hasn’t been easy to write. I have SO much content that is going to be coming at you within the next two weeks. From apartment update to brand collaborations and more! I am so excited to share all of these exciting things with you.
So, to first get into this whole apartment thing…
I have been trying to live with my boyfriend for the last year. For some reason, the time was just not right. Last summer I had the opportunity to work for the Vermont Business Magazine and that was so amazing but when you have to spend time away from the person you love it's just hard. (Sorry fam, its hard when I leave you too) Flash forward a year and I have now been offered a position at Bonta, which is a drink company based on the Mediterranean in Manhattan. I will be doing influencer outreach, marketing, and social media for them. I have also accepted a freelance position with Alloy.com that I am so excited about and I have a few articles going up this week for them. That being said, I really needed a place to live and I was really hoping that I was going to be able to make my apartment dreams come true. Anyone that knows me knows that I have a really large imagination… like an imagination fit for a mansion and well… I got knocked down quite fast. Eric (my boyfriend) and I were looking for apartments for about two months with no luck at all. We decided to stop because it was just getting really depressing and we didn’t really need one until May anyway.
Fast forward a month and a half and we started looking again. The first person we contacted was the first place we went to see and the place we signed the papers at!
I think this really just goes to show that when the time is right, everything will fall into place. So, after we went to see the apartment the first time, we didn’t stop looking. We didn’t want to put all of our eggs in a basket and hope for the best. About two weeks went by and we hadn’t really heard from anyone else that we contacted so we decided to take this apartment. (obviously or I wouldn’t be writing this.) So, this is where the excitement begins. The planning, the buying and the oh so great arguing over what goes where and if we REALLY need that $50 pasta pot. The answer to that question…was no. But not because it was $50 (says my boyfriend) “Because we can’t put that one in the oven.” As someone that isn’t a big cook, you can imagine the look on my face when he said that. So anyway, a few days ago (when I wanted to get this post up, but you know…life) we went to target and spent a whole $300 bucks on stuff for the apartment. I wanted to show you guys some great pictures of our beautiful bed and comforter (that I picked out) but unfortunately, Amazon stabbed us in the back and managed to not ship the bed out in time. So, we just went to clean everything from top to bottom. Keep in mind, this apartment is newly renovated, so no one has lived in there yet, but it was still pretty dirty. I will be giving you guys an updated apartment post about all the fun things that we put in there but for now, I will leave you with photos of it empty! I also was really excited to have house plants but because we live in a basement and the humidity is high in New York already, we didn't want to add to the problems! Instead, (while walking through Target) my lovely boyfriend found a fake plant and said we can get that. Well we did! (I apologize in advance for the picture orientation. I wasn't really thinking when I took them!)
It’s small but its doable for us. We aren’t high maintenance (as my parents roll their eyes) and we don’t need a lot.
Now that we have a clean apartment, we get to purchase all the lovely things to go inside! I have also been trying to figure out how I wanted to design everything and decorate. I wanted to give you guys a little tip on where I am finding my apartment inspo (besides my own head of course)
The lovely place I am talking about is not Pinterest, although that was a good guess. This place is Great Idea Hub. Great name, right?
Great Idea Hub is a home & design website that gives you some of the cutest ideas and the best ways to achieve them! They have a beautiful site and I honestly love their ideas. Their DIY section contains stuff that you would actually be interested in putting in your house! The website is very user-friendly, has a great look and feel and you can get lost in it for hours! They have a really cute DIY Makeup Vanity with Lights that I really want to try as well as a super cute Papasan cushion that would look adorable in our apartment if space was just was a tad bit bigger! The content that they put out on this site like I said before, is actually stuff that you would want to put in your house and they give you some great ideas. They also have some tips and tricks to take care of some household issues like taking off wallpaper. Great Idea Hub also realizes that not everyone has a large wallet and gives you some tips on how to get that “expensive” look without breaking the bank. If you’re someone that is looking for some renovation ideas, are moving (like me!) or are even just interested ins scrolling through some home improvement stuff I definitely recommend you check them out!
Have you heard of the website I listed above? Where do you find your home or apartment inspo? Let me know in the comments below!
As always, feel free to follow me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest to see what I am up to and to catch up on my latest news!
