Hi Everyone! I love trying out new products and I had seen this clay mask featured on Instagram. I just had to try it out. It was one of those “I need to experience it to believe it” type moments. I had heard of charcoal peel off masks that practically pull your skin off, DIY masks but I just recently heard about a bubbling carbonated clay mask. WHAT?

Yeah, I was skeptical too. Apparently, this mask when exposed to air, has a type of “perfluorocarbon” (don’t ask, I have no idea) that will carbonate and start to bubble. Kind of like when you put an Alka-Seltzer tablet in water or a Bath bomb in the bathtub.
So of course, I had to be nosy and check this product out for myself. Normally when I try a face mask, if its clay related, it causes my face to itch constantly and drives me crazy with discomfort. I’m a little worried but since this one actually carbonates, I have a feeling that it may not give me the same problems.
What it is
As a K Beauty product, this is a black head removing, pore exfoliating, and detoxing face mask that is activated by air. It helps to rid your face of dead skin cells and unclog your pores. It is a mud mask that when activated, carbonates and bubbles to create a super interesting feeling on your face. It states to contain various vegetable ingredients such as green tea and pomegranate and charcoal powder extract. It also contains Collagen. How to use it “Scoop a proper amount of the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask and spread evenly on dry, uncleansed face. Wait for 5 minutes until bubbles start to appear then gently massage it all over the face to melt down dirt. Rinse off with lukewarm water.”
First Impressions
This mask was really thick which is expected because if it wasn’t, as soon as it was exposed to air it would just blow up… aka, not good. There weren’t any funny smells or any weird unexpected textures. I did try this mask on my hand first to make sure that I wouldn’t break out and guys it’s awesome!!!! How I did it Because I tried this on my hand first, I was expecting it to be a lot easier than it was to put on my face. When you're trying to take pictures, write down your thoughts and put the mask on, it’s a little difficult! You must “move with a sense of urgency” as my professor would say. The reason for this is because AS SOON as the mask is exposed to air, it starts the carbonation process. Which means that if you take a long time to get this on your face, half of it will be carbonated and bubbling and the other half won’t be yet. It also makes it hard to get a full face after the carbonation starts because it kind of acts like a dry erase marker that you're trying to write over when dries. (It just doesn't happen)
In some of the reviews I read, people were turned off by the feeling the bubbles made on their face, but for me, I didn’t get a strong sensation and it actually felt really nice!
After a few minutes, I massaged the bubbles into my skin again like the directions said. This part was also a little hard because everything kind of just wanted to stick together. But the sound it makes is truly amazing. It’s almost like fascinating in a weird way! My thoughts Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to put Rice Krispy cereal, while in milk, on your face? Well, this is kind of what it feels like. You can even hear the little bubbles popping! So, my thoughts on this mask are that it is a great product. It is also super fun and different from the traditional mask. I think this would be great for a mother/daughter night because it's so fun. As you can see the pictures are a little scary, but this mask left my face feeling softer, brighter and overall better. I look at this as a fun messy type mask that you could do with your friends on a girl’s night or by yourself with a glass of wine. (Like me minus the wine) This mask left my skin feeling great and looking great too! (If I don't say so myself!)
